How we prepare

The right format, the right plan, in good time

The 11+ rewards steady, well-paced preparation — not last-minute cramming. We build skills and confidence on a timeline that suits your child.

01Format

Know the exam

We confirm whether your target schools use GL, CEM, ISEB or their own exam, and prepare for that format.

02Reasoning

Verbal & non-verbal reasoning

Reasoning is highly learnable. We teach the question types and strategies that lift scores fastest.

03Vocabulary

Vocabulary building

A strong vocabulary is the highest-yield investment for the 11+, so we grow it steadily from the start.

04Timing

Speed & accuracy

Timed practice that builds pace and composure, so your child finishes papers calmly under pressure.

05Mock exams

Realistic mock exams

Full mock 11+ papers in the right format, used at the right time to remove surprises on exam day.

06Wellbeing

Common questions

11+ tuition FAQs

Everything parents in Hayes and Hounslow ask before booking their first assessment.

What is the 11+ and when does my child sit it?
The 11+ (11 plus) is an entrance exam for grammar and independent schools, for entry into Year 7. It is usually sat in the autumn term of Year 6, so preparation typically begins in Year 4 or 5.
Which subjects does the 11+ test?
Most 11+ exams test four areas: English (comprehension and SPaG), Maths (based on the Key Stage 2 curriculum), Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. We prepare children for all four.
Which exam board will my child sit — GL, CEM or ISEB?
It depends on the school. GL Assessment is the most common for grammar schools, the ISEB Common Pre-Test is used by many independent schools, and some schools use CEM or their own exam. We confirm your target school's format and prepare for it.
When should we start preparing?
Most families begin in Year 4 or 5. Starting in good time allows steady, low-pressure progress and avoids last-minute cramming, which is the surest route to burnout.
Do you run mock exams?
Yes. Children sit realistic, timed mock 11+ papers in the right format for their target schools, so the real exam feels familiar and far less daunting.
Is the first assessment free?
Yes. We offer a free initial assessment to gauge your child's current level across the four components and recommend the right preparation plan.
