Common questions

SATs tuition FAQs

Everything parents in Hayes and Hounslow ask before booking their first assessment.

What are KS2 SATs and when does my child sit them?
KS2 SATs are national curriculum tests taken by Year 6 children in England, usually in May. They assess English reading; grammar, punctuation and spelling (SPaG); and maths.
Which papers do the SATs include?
There are six papers in total: one reading paper, two grammar, punctuation and spelling papers (including the spelling test), and three maths papers — one arithmetic and two reasoning papers, with no calculator allowed.
What is a scaled score and what counts as a good result?
SATs results are reported as scaled scores. A scaled score of 100 means a child has met the expected standard, and a higher score shows they are working above it. We help children aim confidently for 100 and beyond.
Do you prepare children for KS1 / Year 2 too?
Yes. KS1 (Year 2) assessments are now optional, but we support Year 2 children and earlier Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils to build strong foundations long before the Year 6 SATs.
Do you use past papers and run mock SATs?
Yes. Children practise with real KS2 SATs past papers and mark schemes and sit gentle, timed mock SATs, so the format feels familiar and calm on the real day.
Is the first assessment free?
Yes. We offer a free initial assessment to find gaps from across Key Stage 2 and recommend the right SATs preparation plan for your child.
